The Ulitimate universe is what I've been looking for in comics. It's basically the same application of fantastic elements to a believable universe that made the X-men and Spiderman movies so popular, so I'm obviously not in a minority. [img]smile.gif[/img]

I've read a few of the U-X and U-Sm....

... but the Ultimate F4 and the Ultimate Avengers (yeah, I know they just call them the "Ultimates" but you know...) have pushed me over the edge.

Here's the REALLY weird part.

I never liked the Avengers, Fantastic Four, Captain America, Iron Man... any of the standard comic fare.

I hated ever other issue being an alien trying to destroy the earth.... different writers and artists every 4 issues.... Just when I'd like an arc, they'd yank the rug out from under me.

I have hundreds of assorted comics from different titles... different eras.... but most of my collection is in tiny assortments of 6 or 12 issues. Usually a favorite writer or artist for a particular run. (Barry Winsor Weapon X saga, Kingdom Come, Dark Knight Returns, Man without Fear, some Silver Surfer, Thor, Conan, assorted Hulk and Spiderman....)

The ONLY comics I have more than 12 in a row of are.... Warlord 1-105 (Mike Grell), Cerebus 1- 4th phone book (Dave Sim), all of the Maxx (Sam Keith), and of course every Spawn issue (and spin offs).

(oh yeah, I've got the entire 25 issue run of Ghost Rider 2029... VERY under-rated)
